§ 6-35. Location.

  • (a)

    Hydrants when installed at intersections of streets shall be located a minimum of six (6) feet from the corner of such intersection in order to prevent damage from vehicles.

    (b)

    Hydrants shall be installed so that the maximum distance from the curb or street is six (6) feet and the minimum distance is three (3) feet.

    (c)

    All hydrants shall be set in such a manner that the lowest nozzle opening is a minimum of eighteen (18) inches above the finish grade level and a maximum of twenty-four (24) inches above the grade level.

    (d)

    All hydrants shall be set with a four-and-one-half-inch outlet facing the street.

    (e)

    The base of all hydrants shall be set in a minimum of four (4) square feet of crushed rock in order to provide access for the hydrant barrel to drain.
